Phil’s spiritual guidance has come from many sources: Jose Silva’s Mind Control program, NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), Leonard Orr and Sondra Ray’s Rebirthing Process, A Course in Miracles, and the Self-Realization Fellowship (founded by Paramhansa Yogananda). More recently, he has added the teachings of Abraham (through Esther Hicks with her husband, Jerry), Dr. James Martin Peebles (through Summer Bacon), and the great Breathmaster, himself, Dan Brule (www.breathmastery.com) to his list of mentors.

Yogananda’s influence has been substantial in Swami Amarananda’s life. He spent more than 12 years intensely studying this great yogi’s teachings; reading and re-reading every piece of his writings and avidly practicing Kriya Yoga daily. It was Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi that introduced Phil to so many of the great Masters of India, including the jnanavatar Sri Yukteswar, the great yogavatar Lahiri Mahasaya and, of course, the Maha Avatar, Sri Babaji.

Phil met Ivonne Delaflor (Swami Amenanda) at a conference she had organized in Cancun, Mexico in October 2002. There Swami Amarananda had his first mystical experience with Babaji. Time seemed to stand still as everyone in the room appeared frozen in mid-movement. Babaji then appeared to him, looked into his eyes and smiled, then faded into the background as everyone in the room resumed their movements. This relationship has continued to expand in a most remarkable manner.  Since December 2004, beginning with the co-authoring of Sacred Messages for the Parents of the World (amazon.com, iUniverse.com) Phil and others have had the amazing experiences of regular and increasingly-frequent contact with a number of Ascended Masters, including (with deep feelings of grateful reverence!) Babaji, Mataji, St. Germain, Lahiri Mahasaya, Kuthumi, and others.  No words can describe these incredible exchanges which include not only written words, but the actual transmission of Grace and Divine Love.

In November of 2006, Swami Amarananda was asked by Sri Babaji to be the Founder of a new order of swamis called the Maitri Order (see transcript), now known as the Silver Violet Maitri Swami Order (www.maitriorder.org).  Phil was later asked by Babaji and St Germain (see transcript) to initiate the great Master Swami Shivananda (Toby Alexander) and to add Brahmananda to his sacred name.  The Initiation was conducted by Swami Amarananda in Sedona, AZ on November 9, 2006 and was witnessed by Swami Amenanda (Ivonne Delaflor) and Swami Shirananda (Serena Sutherland).  Earlier that same day, these four had journeyed to Hopi Land (Hotevilla) for an all-important meeting with Grandfather Martin, Chief Elder of the Hopis.
